~Merida’s POV~

“Are you sure that this is going to work? Do you even think she is going to team up with us?” Tooth asks North. There was no denying that she was very worried, even if she tried to hide it.

By now, everyone, excluding Jack and Jamie, and I were seated around the large table in the balcony of North’s workshop. It was decided between North, Bunnymund, Tooth, and Sandy that we should bring in another ally. Since they knew more about the other legends, my teammates and I just let the four of them take the lead on this one. They clearly knew more about the danger of the situation than we did, so far at least.

“So, who exactly are you guys bringing in?” Flynn asks.

North sighs, “Her name is Mother Nature. She’s one of our allies and a good friend of Sandy.”

“And, why do you want to bring her into ‘our’ fight?” I ask. “I thought we could take care of this ourselves.”

“I believe you can, Merida, but I believe it’s best if we have reinforcements. And, as to why I’m requesting she join us, she… has some history with Pitch and I believe we can have her on our side to our advantage.”

“How so?”

“Well, you know what kind of powers Luna has, right?”

My teammates and I nod in sync.

“Well… she may be a suitable match against Luna. And, knowing her conflict with Pitch, I believe she can weaken his forces and we can strike at the chance. It’s best to defeat them now seeing as they are becoming more of a threat by the minute.”

“But… seeing Tooth’s worry, there’s something about her that troubles you guys,” Kristoff adds.

“Y-Yes. You see. She isn’t necessarily our ally. She’d rather remain neutral, but seeing as she can be a valuable teammate, we really would like it if she would side with us this once.”

“So, I’m guessing you’re going to use Sandy on this one?”

Sandy gives two thumbs up.

“Yes; the two of them have history together and I believe Sandy can reason with her, just this once.”

“Let’s just hope she’s in a good mood,” Bunnymund mumbles under his breath.

I sigh as I look out the large window beside me. I see the Northern lights lighten up in the sky, ranging from rosy pinks to glowing greens. Each of the colors dance in harmony as they flow through the bright blue sky. Let’s just hope this Mother Nature woman is in a good mood to talk. I’ve only known briefly about her. The only important thing is that she controls nature on Earth. She controls the weather patterns, so in a way, she is kind of the mentor for our Big Four team. But, none of us have met her. I suppose there’s a first time for everything.

“Do you think she’ll see the signal?” Tooth asks again.

“I highly doubt that anyone in this planet wouldn’t be able to notice the bright lights floating in the sky,” I say, “If she doesn’t come, then she is merely ignoring us, and that doesn’t give me a good vibe about her.”

“Do not worry. If she doesn’t come, then we will send Sandy after her,” North responds. He was very eager to have Mother Nature join us.

“But, why couldn’t we just ask help from the other legends, like Cupid for all I care?”

“I don’t think we need to frighten the others at the moment. We can handle this on our own.”

“If you could’ve handled this on your own, then why call me?” A feminine voice calls out. With that, everyone and I turn our heads towards the globe as wind bursts through the entire room. I shield my eyes from the upcoming wind as I notice a tall, slender woman was floating down onto the ground. After landing gracefully on the ground, the harsh wind finally settles. I remove my hand from my eyes and was able to get a good look at her. First of all, she was a slender woman, looking as if she was around her late 20s, with extremely long (not like Rapunzel’s) flowing black hair, fair skin, a long facial structure, and golden eyes. The outfit she wore was entirely green and was tight yet the skirt was flowing with the wind. If I could ever properly describe her, I would say she was the clear definition of nature.

“Ah, Nature, thank you so much for coming,” North exclaims, trying to seem like his joyful self.

“Yea, yea, let’s skip the whole introductions and get right onto the point. Why did you call for me?”

He sighs, “We need your help.”

“Let me guess, it has to do with Pitch Black, right.”

“Yes.”

“Couldn’t you for once just leave me out of every conflict you have with the Boogeyman. So, what if he’s trying to take over the world? It’s none of my concern.”

“Geez, can you say that she’s a major witch if you know what I mean,” I mumble over to Hiccup, who was sitting next to me.

He only softly chuckles in response.

“Hear me out Nature. Yes, I know my team and I have had conflicts with Pitch many times before, but this time is different. Pitch has more allies; allies that these new guardians have faced before.” North motions towards the six of us. Mother Nature looks towards us and raises an eyebrow.

“I thought there were eight new guardians in the team?” she questions.

“Yes there are, but one is mortally injured and another has left our side.”

“May I ask who they are?” She crosses her arms.

“They were both the Guardians of Winter. The one that is injured is Jack Frost; of course, you know him.”

“Clearly.”

“Anyways, the other that has traded sides was Elsa Arendelle. She has decided to side with Pitch.” As North said Elsa’s name, I notice Anna look down at the ground. She really did miss her sister. But, she wasn’t the only one hurting; we all miss our friends.

“So, one of your allies decided to go along the dark side?”

“Actually two?”

“Two?”

With that, a pair of hands slam onto the wooden table, making everyone around jump in surprise. We all turn to see Flynn standing from his spot. “Yes, two. Her name is Luna and she’s a major problem. Both Elsa and her know all of our secrets and that could destroy us. So, are you with us or not?!”

She sighs then looks back at North. “What can you tell me about the other girl?”

“She’s pretty powerful; I’m not sure how powerful but I would rather not find out. She seems to have powers similar to Pitch’s and more. And, that is why we believe you can be a suitable ally; you can be a fair match against her.”

Mother Nature slowly turns around and slowly paces around beside us, trying to get all the facts straight. She places a finger against her lips and looks up as she was thinking. After a few seconds, she turns back towards North and says, “Fine; I will join you.” We all let out a sigh of relief. “But! I will only observe your fight with the other side.”

“How is that going to help us?!” I finally yell out.

“I will only join your fight when I feel it is needed. I rather not waste my energy on a petty team.”

“Fine, but believe me, Pitch’s team is serious trouble.”

“I will be the judge of that, Miss DunBroch."

“Then it is settled, you will fight alongside us,” North exclaims. “This is excellent. Now, we must plan for our next battle.”

Just as North and the others got together to discuss the next plan of attack, I manage to wiggle my way from the team. I sneak towards the flight of stairs, hoping no one would catch me. I wanted to inform Jack and Jamie about the plans we are making. Though the both of them aren’t up to fighting, I only thought it was best just to update them on what was going on, especially after what happen with Jamie. They deserve to know everything since these attacks are mainly towards two old friends we knew. The two boys still couldn’t comprehend that Elsa and Luna were gone for good. Though, I couldn’t blame them. Those girls were good people. I still don’t understand what drove to side with Pitch.

Once reaching the last step, I pick up my pace. I didn’t need anyone catching me before I could make it to my destination. Luckily, the floorboards did not creek with each step I took. It just made the trip all the better. Finally, I make it to the front of the infirmary. I turn the door knob and slowly push open the door. Once I was able to slip my body through the opening, I knock on the door to let the two boys know I was here.

“Hey, you two,” I say. I close the door behind me.

“Oh, hey, Merida,” Jamie replies. “What brings you here?”

“I just thought I let you guys know what is going on.”

“Spill it,” Jack commands. He didn’t look at me the entire time I entered the room. A piece of cloth was lying on his eyes, which he refused to take off.

“You know you can cool it with the attitude. No pun intended, by the way.”

“Fine. You were going to say…”

“North has called another ally to join our side.”

“So, that’s why the he signaled the Northern Light,” Jamie comments.

“Exactly.”

“So, who is it?”

“… Mother Nature.”

“Really?!” Jack starts. He removes the piece of cloth from his eyes. “They invite her to join our side?!”

“I’m guessing you two aren’t on good terms.”

“Please, she is such a snob. She is like a sociopath; she doesn’t care about anyone but herself. I think her life motto is ‘every man for themselves’.”

“C’mon, Jack, let’s not be unreasonable.”

“Why not? I’ve known her longer, and believe me, every time the Guardians call for her help, even when they’re on the verge of death, she never bothers to help.”

“Well, she’s helping us now.”

“Yea right.”

“She is; really. She agreed to help.”

“Well, she only said that she’ll intervene when she realizes that Pitch’s force is strong.”

He scoffs, “Well, don’t be surprised if she doesn’t help you… Either way, why did North even call her? Doesn’t he know there are others out there willing to help?”

“That’s what I said! But, North thought that she could be a better opponent for Luna.”

“North wants Mother Nature to fight Luna?!” Jamie yells. “She could kill Luna. Knowing her, Luna would never back down. She can die out there.”

“Not helping!!!” Jack shouts.

“… Sorry.”

“We’re just hoping that we can lower Pitch’s forces. The last thing everyone needs is another Dark Ages. Trust me, the last thing I want to do is hurt our friends. They need a good dose of reality when we get to them.”

“Well, as long as North thinks we can stop Pitch using Mother Nature then I’m on board. Just, promise me you won’t kill Luna.”

“I promise to do my best, Jamie. You two need you rest, so I’ll leave you to it.”

I walk away from the bed and make my way towards the door.

“Hey, Merida,” Jack calls out.

I turn my head. “Yea?”

“Just… be careful out there.”

“Don’t worry. I always am.” With that, I turn the door knob, open the door, and walk out. I close the door behind me and make my way back to the group. Hopefully, everything goes well for everyone. Let’s just hope fate is by our sides.
